Karabük University (KBU) Safranbolu Fethi Toker Faculty of Fine Arts and Design hosted for the first time "Leather as a Language of Craft, Art and Design" symposium and workshop between 23.05.2022-25.03.2022.
I. Leather as a Language of Craft, Art and Design symposium and workshop started at Safranbolu Fethi Toker Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (SFTGTF) Prof. Dr. Sadettin Ökten Conference Hall. Within the scope of the two-day symposium and workshop, leatherworking, which has an important place in socio-economic terms, was discussed in all aspects. In addition, with today's academic studies, leatherworking was brought up to date again as craft, art and design, and by presenting a new perspective by protecting our cultural elements with art, the experiences of masters serving in the field of leather as well as knowledgeable and experts in the field of Turkish art of leatherworking from Central Asia to the present day were explained.
The first speaker of the program was Lecturer from KBU Safranbolu Vocational School Traditional Handicrafts Department. Assist. Dilek Çelik opened a solo exhibition on the ceilings of Safranbolu houses. At the exhibition, Lect. See. Dilek Çelik included applications from the works she embroidered the ceiling and belly samples of Safranbolu houses on leather. Protocol members toured the exhibition and received information about the works from Çelik.
The program was attended by Karabük AK Party Deputy Niyazi Güneş, KBU Rector Prof. Dr. Refik Polat, Uzbekistan Andijan Institute of Mechanical Engineering Rector Prof. Dr. Turdaliyev Umid Muxtoraliyevich, Safranbolu Mayor Elif Köse, SFTGTF Dean Prof. Dr. Anıl Ertok Atmaca, International Relations Office Coordinator Lect. Assist. Prof. Dr. Anya Çepni Önalan, Coordinator of the International Relations Office, Press and Public Relations Coordinator Assist. Assist. Ayşegül Ay, academicians, masters, students and guests attended the event.
After the I. Leather as a Language of Craft, Art and Design symposium and workshop, an exhibition of leather products prepared by the students of Safranbolu Handicrafts Department was held at Safranbolu Misak-ı Milli Square on 24.05.2022. Karabük University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İzzet Açar, SFTGTF Dean Prof. Dr. Anıl Ertok Atmaca, Head of Handicrafts Department Dr. Lecturer. Prof. Dr. Durmuş Gür, Lecturer, who provided two years of comprehensive education to students in the field of leather. Assist. Dilek Çelik and Lecturer. Assist. Sebahat Kılıç contributed to the exhibition with their works and information. Apart from the academics and students of Safranbolu Fethi Toker Faculty of Fine Arts and Design and Safranbolu Şefik Yılmaz Dizdar Vocational School, the exhibition attracted the attention of the university staff. On 25.05.2022, certificates of participation were presented to the academicians and masters who participated / supported the workshop and exhibition at Safranbolu Misak-ı Milli Square.
